Stoumont Sanitarium - 1
Big Game '08 USA is coming up and we picked Battle of the Bulge - The Fight for Stoumont. The dominate piece of terrain is St. Eduard's Sanitarium, so naturally I have to build it from scratch. (Many thanks to Bob Mantz who took time out of his busy schedule to help a demented gamer with the foam board - twice. For my colonial games the structure will be know as 'Governor Mantz's Mansion' in his honor.)
I'm starting off with the main building. The figure is a 1/72 plastic, floor material is made from black foam board. The first floor will have the two faces of the structure attached to it. This will allow the upper floors to be kept in line using these two faces as "book ends".
Second floor is similar to the first - notice how it fits in between the face keepers, and I just use my hands to align the ends of the floors.
The third and forth floor is under the roof cap made from gator board. Currently the roof is anchored to the third floor slab for ease of fabrication. At some point I'm going to separate the roof piece so I can make the floors - just not now. Once the roof shell is rock solid I'll worry about these two floors. Right now there are two slight channels cut into the roof to allow it to track down the side face keepers - this keeps everything in alignment.
