The Empires Strike Back
The antique native artillery booms out and drops a shell amongst the British - half a dozen men and officers felled and half again scattered! The surviving squad moves minus their leader through the smoke to fire and hit several enemy riflemen across the wheat field from them.

The French on the allied left flank open fire against a limbered enemy gun felling all but the leader who runs for cover!

The second French squad on the left flank advances to the edge of the wheat field and takes a second gun under fire. Again - accurate French bullets wipe all but one crew man from the menacing gun about to fire!

Back at the ruins other French at the Allied center leverage the Gardner gun over the ruin walls - the French are in!

The second wave of Reb cavalry halts allowing the trail squad to catch up. The first wave fires scattered shots felling a couple Zulu before pulling back to join the rest of the mounted force.

But what is this?! The two surviving crewmen of the enemy artillery make it to the loaded gun and manage to fire another shot into the Allied left flank!

Although the shot lands right between the two deployed French squad wounding few and scattering others!

The British blue jackets place their gun and drive the horse team back to the safety behind the ridge. "LOAD!"

Native rifles advance to the spot where their brethren fell and pick off a few French on the Allied left flank in revenge!

Two noticable gaps appear in the Allied left flank as the French fall in place or dive for cover!

Seeing the infantry waver the cavalry press forward and begin to fire at the hidden riflemen to their front!

Somali swordsmen drop to their bellies and begin the crawl through the wheat.... (they're crawling....really....)

The British and French survivors on the left flank watch the wheat on the opposite side begin to move...!

Back on the native left flank the first Zulu wave reaches the edge of the ridge with the cemetary just beyond!

The Reb first rank calm their nervous mounts as the black wave laps the edge of the ridge to their front!

Survivors from the decimated squad watch their other officer fall to a sniper - then they rush for cover and fire back!

A lone British soldier who was unable to get his wits about him cowers by the safety of the ruins watching his mates...

The French in the ruins can see the whole battlefield and expect action soon!

Out of no where a sniper shot fells a Legionairre near the wall at top right! Cover!

The Zulu waves appear to be getting themselves worked up!

Nervous horsemen prepare to receive them!

Battle line from Allied left flank looking north.

Looking back to the southwest...
