On the native left flank Reb Cavalry reaches the cemetary and spots a river of Zulu flooding down the wheat plain!

French column reaches the empty ruins first with the British traveling in parallel taking a path on the ridge byt he wheat.

French Gardner crew screened by the infantry approaches the trees of the nut orchard.

Across the way wheat field native swords and rifles watch the Cavalry at top left, FFL at center, and Brits at right.

Native swords screen rilfes while artillery crews go into action on the ridge behind them!

The enemy cavalry stops at the edge of the cemetary and takes in the full weight of the Zulu column at top left.

A native rifle squad slips into position on the edge of the wheat field and prepares to take up French targets.

No sooner do they stick their long rifles out of the brush than they are taken under fire by the French Legionairres!
First a squad rushes forward and takes hasty but accurate fire felling four of the rifles! Then the French cavalry take
careful aim from their saddles and release a fusilade that fells those who remain! Below other rifles watch their brethren destroyed in the bushes to their front!

The fierce firing causes the other rifles to hug the thick grass looking for relative safety!

The French at right are on the European left flank and have begun to form the anchor for a battle line!

The French commander on the left seems pleased with drawing the fatal first blood!
