The Valley of Death
The west side of the ground - main village, last ridge, small dwelling, second ridge, and another small village.

The east side of the ground with British entering from right onto first ridge. Natives appear and fire!

A native gun crew open fire from small village with an antiquated cannon and it's free grapeshot for the Limeys!

Another patrol of Brits spots enemy clad in dark red on top of a mud brick house and opens fire with no effect.

British crews climb a small foothill to find a good spot to take the mud brick hut under fire with MGs and artillery.

The recipients of the Grapeshot Award climb into the cover of the rocks and pose for a picture!

Back on the foothills the crews are attacked by savage men hiding in the rocks!

Another native gun crew appear and shell the advancing British lines.

The Grapeshot winners are also attacked as they attempt to set up their machinegun - it's destroyed in the melee!

The crews manage to overwhelm their attackers with pistol and ram rods!

The British line take several casualties but are slowly making ground across the entire front.

The newly seized foothill is now receiving the guns - a rapid firing 6 pdr and a Maxim machinegun!

The native crews receive deadly British fire and their ranks are thinned!

The Grapeshot winners cheer their own accurate fire and prepare to advance for some more and another go!

A fleeing survivor from the initial Britsh onslaught is on his own but turns to keep firing!

A third gun on the final native ridge opens fire and begins to shell the British nearing the small village.

Their brothers on an adjacent hill add their accurate rifled fire to the mix!

The Britsh stroll out in the open ignoring the incoming lead - however a few are unable to survive their own bravado!

The natives keep firing not believeing the steel nerve of those men in red! Why won't they all die?!?

The Maxim is in place and begins to rake the second ridge of enemy riflemen!

The British line begins to enter the second ridge - firing is hot from the village at left and hilltops at right!

The Maxim and rifle fire of the crew clears the mud brick hut on the right. The crews move forward to claim their prize!

The forth native cannon opens fire from the main village as the advancing British enter the second ridge!

The British reserve arrives and storms up to where the Maxim and 6pdr are doing serious work!

The natives on the last ridge continue to pour their fire at the British advancing into the village at right. The British
6 pdr drops a line of shells in front of the native gun and their leader pitches over the side!

The second ridge line is almost breached and the British pour their fire into the last ridge beyond!

The survivores of the Grapeshot Award finally cling to the rocks dispatching enemy by hand and firing on the last ridge!

Enemy reserves pour in from the south edge of the second ridge and flood to take back the lost ground!

The other half swing around towards the front of the ridge and take the artillery and MG crew under fire.

The thin native line hugs a stone wall and tries to keep the British from passing through a draw of the second ridge.
Their cannon remains silent on the roof top of the mud brisk building.

The crews take some hits but give better than they get! The 6 pdr artillery shells the distant last ridge! (120mm hands!)

The Grapeshot winners are forced to hold what they have as the native reserves are to risky to advance against.

The native reserves press over the hilltop to add their deadly fire against the whole of the British line!

But wait! The 6 pdr drops three accurate shells directly amongst them and the enemy push is almost wiped out!

As darkness falls the British are left holding half the villages and barely more hill than the natives. Only another day
of this work will finally decide the fate of this valley of death!
