Dixie Burn
Ex-Confederate Rebs have taken root. To increase their power in the region 2 squads work around the clock to finish construction on the iron clad CSS Dixie. The local American commander decides to send 2 steam launches with 2 squads of sailors and 2 squads of US Marines to raid and set fire to this iron monster. The local British commander provides 2 squads of infantry to "assist" in the effort but for all intensive purposes act on their own.
Facing southwest: Top right is the jungle barracks for the Rebs with the CSS Dixie just to the right at center bottom. One of three ancient statues of some long forgotten religion can be seen at left of bottom center staring towards a dense jungle line at top left, behind which the huff of steam launches and clamor of voices can be heard. Abatis, tree trunks, fire wood and crates are mixed in with two squads of Rebs at center who advance to discover the source of the commotion.
Facing southeast: A better view from the position of the Rebs as they strain to see through the trees at the river beyond.
Facing south: US Marines and sailors disembark from their steam launches on the shallow river bank and immediately advance towards the jungle tree line to their front.
Facing northeast: As the Americans flow towards the trees the British patrol emerges from their advance on foot at distant right and also begins to enter the tree line.
Facing south: A squad of Rebs rush to the strip of jungle and begin to engage the enemy at close range and hand to hand.
Facing southwest: The British emerge to the flank of the stalled advance and begin to pour into the open field beyond.
Facing west: The second squad of Rebs spots the British and moves to check the advance.
Facing northwest: The British spot the new Rebel line and decide to press forward.
Facing north: The American second wave of US Marines approaches their embattled comrades.
Facing north: The US Sailors on the left flank continue to press forward under the encouragement of their commander seen at bottom right.
Facing southwest: The feeble Rebel line appears to be no match for the attackers.
Facing south: Suddenly a third Reb squad enters the board having marched to the sound of the firing!
Facing southwest: At top center the first Reb squad begins to cause and take casualties with the Americans pouring into the thin line of jungle while the British rush forward to outflank them at bottom left. The second Reb squad begins to form a firing line on a small knoll at bottom right. (NOTE: The trees have been removed at center for ease of play).
Facing southwest: With terrible accuracy the second Rebel squad wipes out half the British flankers almost to a man! At bottom right one of two British survivors, and officer, can be seen where he stopped fleeing. (Flashman?)
Facing northeast: The third Rebel squad forms a second line of defense and the US Sailors charge out from the jungle to pounce upon them in hand to hand.
Facing southwest: This time it is the Rebs who are nearly destroyed!
Facing southwest: The survivors of the US Sailor attack fall back to the safety of the scattered crates as a fourth Reb squad arrives on the edge of the board at bottom right.
Facing west: The remaining US Marines and Sailors advance and attempt to form a strong line as the Rebel rifle fire begin to take their toll.
Facing east: Slowly but surely the Americans advance closer and closer to the CSS Dixie faced by only scattered opposition.
Facing south: The fourth Reb squad begin to pin down the attackers but fail to prevent the lone British officer from sprinting to and entering the CSS Dixie. This noble gentlemen manages to fend off a Reb attack to eliminate him and the survivors continue to try and score a lucky shot from a far.
Facing southeast: The Americans are driven back or become casualties amongst the scattered crates and tree stumps.
Facing north: Suddenly the CSS Dixie begins to smoke heavily as the British officer succeeds in setting her alight!
Facing northwest: Rushing from the burning metal monster Flashman is "wounded" by half a dozen rifle shots and captured as he attempts to make his get away from the CSS Dixie!
Facing south: The remaining British hold to the tree line as their noble officer is captured and provide covering fire for the rest of the Americans to withdraw in good order. They'll have to attempt a rescue at some future date.

Result:
Although there were smart casualties amongst the British and Americans the raid was an astounding success! The Rebs poke through the ashes of their precious iron clad and begin to decide what to do with their haughty British prisioner.

British - Major Victory - WINNER!
Americans - Minor Victory - WINNER!
Rebs - Major Defeat
