To the Sea
Britian has dispatched 6 squads of Legionairres to assist a Russian delegation and packet ship in their attempt to break out via a canal through a German held port that is provisioned with a band of native speas, 2 squads of infantry, a machine gun, a squad of town militia, one 12 Pdr artillery with crew, and a machine gun armed steam tank.
Facing northwest: The Russian ship drifts slowly towards the canal bridge with her crew clinging tight to the decks and out of view. Just to the left of the vessel to to the right in the jungle you can just make out a glimpse of blue and white uniforms of Legionairres. At left a steam launch with the local militia chugs up stream from the pier to reinforce an artillery piece on the bridge moving to the far side of the river. The sand bag walls are clearly visible and the German infantry in their light blue uniforms can just be made out to the right of the tower and approaching at right up the road. If you look closely you can see the hedge where the steam tanks drove over the lawn of the red house and broke down on the far side of the tan roofed building (you can make out the curve of the back of the vehicle) effectively becoming a steel cased machine gun emplacement covering the river and the bridge.
Facing southeast: Here isa reverse of the previous view and you can clearly see three French squads dispersing into the jungle cover at top and top left as well as three suqads traveling in column as they are set upon by a band native spears. Some of the Russian crew can be seen on deck of their ship.
Facing northeast: Here is a better view of the French in the jungle at center left as they approach the sand bag wall. The German infantry can be seen along the wall and the machine gun team has been moved to the tower to begin spraying the deck of the Russian ship. The trailing infantry squad double times it towards the bridge as their leader drives in his automobile at top right. The artillery piece and crew continue to make their way across the bridge and the broken down steam tank can be seen blocking the road way to the left of the tan roofed house. At bottom left the native spears cause some casualties but are being wiped out as the trailing French forces move forward. The militia continue to chug toward the bridge to support the gun moving there.
Facing east: On the far side of the river the French are cut to pieces as they emerge from the jungle in a constant trickle. The Russian ship drifts into contact with the bridge and comes to a jarring halt throwing her crew to the decks. The trailing German infantry come pouring across the bridge and join the local militia who have just disembarked there from the steam launch. Surprisingly the native spear survivors manage to drive back the French to the tall grasses off view at bottom left allowing the artillery piece to come into action on the far side of the bridge unmolested at bottom left.
Facing west: The native spears can be seen holding the French at the edge of the tall grass at top right. At center top the Russian ship begins to take casualties from the repeated machine gun fire from the tower at center left. Behind the tower the steam tank also adds firepower against the vessel but having little initial effect. The German infantry on the wall awaits the remaining French squad at botton which is having second thoughts about approaching after watching what happened to the first two Legionairre squads.
Facing north: The French squad in the jungle decides to live to fight another day and their German opponents on the wall stay in place to make sure the do not change their mind. The remaining Germans at the tower, minus the machine gun crew, prepare to board the Russian ship which shows no sign of resistance. At left the artillery and militia have a firm enough hold on the far side of the bridge that the remaining Germand infantry at upper left sets out to help drive off the remaining French squads which have already been severly reduced from spear, cannon, and rifle fire.

Result:
In the end it is a complete slaughter with the French and Russians taking many casualties before surrender is inevitable. The half hearted probes of the Legionairres allowed them to be chopped up piece meal and the German guns and defenses to much to overcome without support.
