By the Dawn's Early Light

North Jersey Miniature Gaming Society - This game was played using Bipolar Disorder, i.e. the players controled both a friendly and an enemy unit.

Four squads of French Legionairres emerge from the early dawn light onto the edge of a local village at the exact same time two bands of arab cavalry and four bands of arab foot are forming for a raid of their own.

The Legionnaires are forced into hand-to-hand to beat back several cavalry charges and to clear arab foot from the courtyard of the nearest dwelling.
The arab calvary is destroyed but not without leaving the French half smashed and scattered at right. Soon more fierce fighting erupts at the storming of the buildings and clearing of the court yard.
With their hard fought buildings now offering them excellent protection the French begin to pick off their arab attackers with starting efficiency. The remaining arab cavalry and their leader try to charge the French on the wall at top and find their enemy willing to meet them with equal zeal. An French spy at the wall near the bottom decides to try and turn the battle for the French by attacking several of his arab 'brothers' with much initial success until he is finally cut down by enraged arab rifle fire.
Soon the remainder of arab riflemen form along the wall atop a ridge at bottom right and begin to exchange fire with the French in the mud houses. The accuracy and power of the French rifles make quick work of the arabs and they are quickly swept away.
The remaining tribesmen hide their rifles and go back to tending their flocks before the soldiers reach their end of the village.

Result:
The French take heavy casualties but manage to destroy the raiders before they could do harm to anyone else.

French - Minor Victory - WINNER!
Arab - Major Defeat
