Silencing the Guns

Four squads of French Legionairres and two guns have put inland and move down along the coast in an attempt to silence two 32 Pdr shore guns overlooking a port city. The guns must be silenced in order a French invasion fleet to occupy a port city and is defended by three bands of fanatical Arabs and Arab battery crews.

Facing south: The two shore gun positions are at top left ( gun one ) and right ( gun two ). The Arab town is occupied by the fanatics who prepare their rifles at center in anticipation of the French who have appeared on the road leading to town at center bottom.
Facing north: Reverse view looking back at the French. The Arabs in the town are well dug in and the shore guns are on elevated knolls looking out to sea. The number one gun is on the right and the number two gun on the left.
Facing north-east: The number two gun will be the site of tense action later on as you will see below in the next picture.
Facing north-east: At center you can see that the Arabs have been forced back from their buildings by the intense French artillery fire however they ahve suffered relatively few casualties. Three squads of French with their commander managed to make their way down the left edge of the field below, skirting the village and making their way to the number two gun. The rush is daring and costly as all but one Legionairre is cut down in the mad dash for the shore gun. The Legionairre manages to drive out the surviving gun crew (whose heads you can see in the brush to the right of the gun), survive a sniper attack and spike the gun before the sniper finally fells him. In a pivotal moment the dead Legionairre falls lifelessly across the silenced shore gun to fight no more. The sniper seen standing on the roof of the furthest building at center was soon there after is dispatched with several blasts from the perterbed French artillery in the distance.
Facing north: With one gun silenced and one to go there is much trash talk between the two antagonists. As fresh Arab cavalry arrives on the field at bottom left and right to support the bloodied Arab foot and the French begin to eye the second gun a friendly little wager is made (at 10USD per) as to whether the last gun will be silenced. There is a moment of intense study as the opponents attempt to stare down each other to no avail - the fight will go on! The surviving French squad can be seen on the road to town flanked by the French artillery.
Facing south: There is a mad Arab yell and the whole of the town, foot and hhorse alike, flood out of the village and towards the French. The Legionairres are momentarily stunned but quickly recover as they aim deadly rifle and canister fire into the ranks of the attacking hordes. Half the Arabs are cut down before they can reach their targets but the remainder quickly engulf and savage the French. Below you can see the mix of Arab survivors and the two French infantrymen taken captive - all others are casualties and the French guns fall silent.

Result:
The French commander relinquishes his wager to the victor who continues to grin to this day. The two prisioners are sent to the port town to act as human shields and the remaining shore gun manages to severly damage several French ships who attempt to run the harbor.
